That which the Lord prepares
Scripture Passage: Isaiah 64: 1 - 5
Inspite of all existing uncertainties encompassing us, we have one hope because, we don’t run after this existing world, rather, the eternal Kingdom of God.
Vs 2 - The Bible here talks of what the Lord has prepared for me. This is something beyond the Lord preparing me to inherit what He has prepared for me. The Lord leads me through what he has prepared to reach what He has prepared for me. The experience of being prepared is already prepared. We who walk through it have the assurance that we’ll enter into the heaven at the end, if we don’t deviate.
- He has prepared a table amidst my enemies:
Psalm 23: 5 - What the Lord has prepared, is prepared in the presence of my enemies. It is the task of the Lord to prepare a table amidst our enemies, difficulties, failures etc. Hence, this world isn’t a place where you can relax, rather, got to be fighting always. The strength of the Lord has already prepared to prepare you. The enemy is already defeated, who still tries to entice and drag us to his side.
- He has prepared the path you ought to walk in:
Psalm 34: 9 - The fear of the Lord within you ensures that you will not be in want. John, the Baptist was the man who prepared himself in the path God had prepared for him. God ensured he was clothed and fed. He who was prepared in the way God had prepared him, stood before kings, with no fear.
Youths of this age are advised never to give in to fear; for as long as you are truthful, you’ll prosper in your works.
The Lord brought Jacob back to the place he was taken from. If the Lord has chosen, called and leads you, it isn’t true that you’ll never encounter unexpected situations, but there is an assurance that He will bring you back in peace, to the place / church He had encountered you. He will bring you back and bless and fulfill you, as sure as His word is!
- There is grief when what the Lord has prepared departs from you:
Psalm 65: 9 - Though you are seated amidst enemies and though the Lord leads with no lacking, the Lord enquires the earth and the waters it. When God enquires, He ensures that the blessings are at reach. Amidst the floods and calamities, God enquires some place and waters it, which is why you are served food at your plate.
Hannah was glad when God’s servant enquired her. Whenever God sends His servant to come and enquire you, you are blessed. The closing note of such enquiry brings forth blessings or answers to your prayers. It is important that the Lord who looks over you must urge His servant to enquire of you, which will bring blessings and answers to your prayers. Else, it merely builds a fellowship alone.
Jonah 4: 6, 7 = Jonah was overjoyed because of the gourd which the Lord had prepared for him. But when it was eaten up, he insisted he better dies off. Likewise, when that which the Lord has prepared for you is lost, you’ll have a thought to die rather than to live. Many wander around, losing what the Lord had prepared (ministry) by not being submissive to Him. Look at those who lost their calling. Their lives turn much miserable that they prefer to die.
- God has prepared a special thing in us, to be perfected:
Heb 11: 40 = God has prepared a special thing in us, such that, others might be made perfect. God blesses your house, your place of work, the places you visit and those whom you acquaint with such that they can’t be perfected without you. These are made perfect through us, whose table is prepared by the Lord and who are prepared in the way the Lord has prepared. In other words, any man who is closer to God, obeys His voice and works in His way touches the life of many.
You and I are that man who brings forth blessings to others. Why? Because we
- Love God
- Believe in His love
- Yield ourselves to God’s hands and live
- Prepare us in the way God has prepared for us
Never fear of any circumstances, but strengthen yourselves in the Lord!
The Lord, the God of Israel is in the midst of thee

Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them. Jeremiah 5:14
