But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things,
and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26

Bow down to the words of God

Scripture Passage: 2 Chronicles 11: 1 - 14

Vs 4: God doesn’t intervene in our lives very often, but at those instances he intervenes, man ought to bow low and obey to what He says.
In the earlier instance, Rehoboam was put in a juncture of choosing whose advice to hearken to (the old / men of his age), which rose as part of his parents’ actions. But here when he gets the chance to hear God’s word, he immediately obeyed unconditionally. As long as you hearken unto God’s word, nothing can ever shake you. Because he prioritized God’s word and obeyed them, God blessed him.

Vs 5: Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem.
- He who listens to God’s word dwells in Jerusalem, the city of the great King! Blessed is him the Lord chooses and gathers to him.
- Because Rehoboam obeyed to God’s word when it was directed to him, though the kingdom was divided, the temple of God and the king’s (David’s) house were both under his care. For, the Lord keeps his eye upon those who fear Him and with those is His heart.
- God places those who fear Him where the presence of the Lord prevails along with his intervention. He never lets them wander. Though Jeroboam was ruling over ten tribes, he lost the glorious temple of God and the magnificent palace of Solomon. Those who fail to hearken to the voice of God neither receive the glorious temple of God, nor the riches of this world. They tend to miss the presence of God and the riches as well.
- Fear God, bow down to what God says and obey His commands. The Lord will never let any man overcome you. Self-examine in all places if you had obeyed to God’s commands always.

Vs 5, 10: He built forts (cities of defence) in Judah. He built fortifies towns (fenced cities) in Judah and Benjamin.
- The people / church / family who bow down to God’s words receive forts and fortified towns.
- When God builds up a ministry, He builds forts and fortification such that the children within might be protected.
- God makes forts and fortified cities to that church / ministry / organization that has people who abide by His word when the Word is taught right and protects the children within. The Lord stands as an enemy to the sin and guards such that sin might not enter.

Vs 11: He fortified the strongholds and put captains in them, and store of food, and of oil and wine.
- Likewise in ministry, there is restrictions, emphasis on prioritizing God, obeying God and rebuking. Strongholds were not only built, but were also strengthened. To accomplish this, leaders were appointed. The church where strongholds are strengthened, leaders arise.
- Every great man of God has a genealogy. Elisha, who drew water to Elijah, and Joshua, who never departed from the tabernacle.
- Young men will arise only if they are nurtured under strongholds of the presence of the Lord. Else, if he has to learn by himself, that will take 3/4th of his lifespan just like Moses.
- If you desire to shine in ministry at your young age, you ought to have the right servant of God as an umbrella to cover, guide, rebuke and lead you.
- Strongholds where the Truth is taught as the Truth is essential. Discipline is emphasized with God’s leading and counsel.
- Rehoboam made granaries to store food, oil and wine. Food sustains man, Oil brings beauty and wine strengthens. Paul writes to Timothy to have some wine to strengthen (not to be drunk of wine).

Vs 12: He made every city exceedingly strong having Judah and Benjamin on his side.
Rehoboam made forts, fortified cities, strengthened few strongholds and strengthened more of them.

Vs 13: Levi, the tribe chosen to serve God comes to Rehoboam.
To the ministry where the Word of God is established as the Truth, Levites / priests come to unite with them.

Vs 14: Renouncing their assets, they came seeking to Rehoboam where the fear of God and counsel of God was established.
If you abide and obey to the word of God, you will receive such a help. Revival encountered Rehoboam, so will it encounter you when you obey, listen and bow down to the word of God.

Though being aware that he would attain victory, in obedience to God’s word sent to him, Rehoboam went back without battling. This act of obedience to God’s word brought revival in him; for the Lord honored his act and the sceptre of Judah never departed until Christ was come.

Matthew 1: 7: Rehoboam finds a place in Jesus’ genealogy.
“Revival will encounter you when you bow down in obedience to God’s word!”
