But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things,
and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26

Genesis 17: 1 – 2

Purpose of God’s covenant:

When the Lord made a covenant with Abraham, he chose to make it in terms of blessing and expansion. To those who disobey or deviate from the Lord’s covenant, it rests upon them as a burden, failure or a tough task. But to those who hearken unto His voice and honour His words, the covenant of the Lord is a glorious, joyful and a blessed one. To us, who have made a covenant with the Lord, the Lord says, “I will bless thee and multiply thee.” Fearing God, we depart from evil each day, walk in the ways of righteousness, lead a life with integrity and fulfill all things. We do so, such that we might not lose the blessings God has in store for us. In order not to lose the blessings of multiplication and blessings, we tend to obey and fear God. We, the people of God are rebuked and warned and sent words of God tough to be digested, so that, as inheritors of the blessings of the covenant of the Lord, we might be partakers of it. Also, that we might not lose the great and honorable experience that we have received from God at any cost.

Expectation of God’s covenant:

There is a great expectation that God has about me, as an inheritor of the covenant. The expectation is that, “This vessel holding my blessings must manifest Me”. When we fulfill this expectation of the Lord, He would command us to enter the Master’s gladness on the great judgement day, for you are worthy of it as you manifested me. Many tend to lose the calling of the Lord by prioritizing the insignificant silly expectations of the world. The Lord honours the one who stands true in His calling and covenant, and never despises him or lets the world to despise him either. He considers such (born again and abides in His covenant) as the apple of His eye. The decisions we make and stand by, that we might not fall into sin are considered as defences in the spiritual realm and He bestows the strength to stand by them. The Lord welcomes such decisions. The devil cleverly works to break these decisions which forces the Lord to destroy the defences erected around him. The devil enters and brings forth an ultimate downfall. God expects us to observe the covenant at all situations and not deviate from them from generation to generation. Be honest to the covenant made, even in places where they are tough, hard and opposed to be followed. It is glorious to struggle in spiritual realm with God rather than to struggle against the world and be blessed!
